Creative Cascades is a family business.Â

Richard started Creative Cascades in 2015. After building his own garden ponds for decades, he decided to turn it into his livelihood.

His wife Lynne handles logistics, accounting, enquiries and more while the lads are on site.

Ben and Conor are their two sons, who joined the business shortly after leaving school.

At Creative Cascades we're dedicated to delivering quality on every job. Our ponds are designed to be low maintenance and hassle-free. This is where the technical stuff comes in, like ecosystem filtration and intake bays.

ecosystem filtration
The key to clear water is proper filtration. Strong chemicals kill wildlife and UV lights are unnecessary if your water quality is high.Â

The ecosystem method uses a combination of mechanical and biological filtration to keep water crystal clear year round.

The biology of our features is at the core. Excess algae and nutrients in a pond will cause the water to become green or brown. Our filters are specially designed to house beneficial microorganisms which consume algae and nutrients in the water, keeping it clear.

Intake Bays
The intake bay is another vital part of a water feature. It helps to prevent sludge build up and drastically increases the longevity of the pump.

In short, the pump is concealed in a small chamber below a bed of pebbles. This creates a skimming effect which pulls all of the natural debris, such as leaves, into the intake bay ready to be netted out later. Without an intake bay anything which falls into the pond sinks to the bottom and begins breaking down into sludge.

Additionally, wildlife has virtually zero access to the pump, keeping frogs, newts and fish safe.
