frequently asked questions

1

How do your ponds stay crystal clear?

Ecosystem filtration is the key. Clean, healthy ponds rely on proper circulation and effective filtration. We use zero harsh chemicals in our features, instead utilising the same natural processes which keep rivers and streams crystal clear in nature; beneifical microorganisms consume organic waste and our filters catch a great deal of remaining sediment. Our ponds are essentially self-cleaning and we recommend a full clean just once a year.

2

will i have to do any maintenance?

During summer string algae can bloom, this is very easy to clean out with a net or by hand. Our intake bays collect leaves and other detritis, which can also be netted quickly and easily.

3

Is wildlife safe in the feature?

In our ponds, the pump is sealed away in a secure chamber under a bed of gravel, making it much less likely for wildlife to access/be injured by it. Moreover we build many shallow areas and shelves into the feature, making it easier for animals to escape.

4

are there child-friendly options?

Yes. There are several options. Pondless waterfalls and streams have shallow water, and ornamental features can be built with no pool at all.

5

What areas do you cover?

We're based in Hertfordshire. We work all over England and if need be will stay in a local hotel while we work on your project.

6

what is the best way to protect fish from herons?

We find netting to be an eyesore. Instead, we often build fish caves into ponds, concealed with rocks, where the fish can take cover.
