Pond Cleaning
- Usually we can apply a fixed fee.
- In some circumstances and hourly rate will apply - for example where the timeframe is not definable.
- Small ponds cost somewhere around £300 - £500 + vat to clean as a rough guide.
- Medium ponds around £500 + vat and above, but there are many factors such as depth and access that can affect cost.
- Larger ponds and lakes, cost on application.
- Any materials are paid for by client such as a replacement UV bulb.
- Cleaning charges do not include any additional works such as pump or plumbing repairs.
- We can temporarily store fish on-site but cannot accept liability for fish health. Re-filling the pond takes time, give thought to whether you prefer to re-fill yourself.
- All waste remains on- site, it is not viable for us to move wet sludge. Sludge and other plant matter to be left by the pond to dry, Once dry the client can easily use this around the garden as free compost. In the case of large ponds and lakes where you want sludge removed, we can consider moving it to another part of the site.
- Water is pumped onto your garden and not into drains unless a very small amount and not full of solids.
- For large ponds and lakes you may need to seek permission for us to pump into drainage ditches.
- We do not accept liability for leaks caused by us working in the pond aside from gross negligence on our part. EG an old or poorly installed liner may leak if trodden upon, we have no way of knowing if sharp objects are in or below the pond. Old brittle liners may be weak.
- We require a working hose and electricity to be ready to go. We do not carry garden hoses or fittings.
Repairs
We are happy to consider all manner of repairs, from leaks to pump work, liner replacement and filtration work.
A callout fee will apply and this charge depends on your location. For very local calls of a simple nature, this might be waived.
Typically £125 +vat call-out charge, then £100 + vat per hour, reflecting the seasonal nature of our industry and very high cost of maintaining and replacing tools and pumps used in constantly adverse wet conditions.
FIXED FEE - in some circumstance we may offer a fixed fee if appropriate. This would apply in situations where the work required is clearly defined and knowable in advance. This wont usually apply to investigative works such as exploring for leaks as we cannot possibly know in advance how long this will take.
Large ponds and lake re-lining
There are various ways of approaching large re-lining projects, most typically we will seam several liners into one ready for installation. Please be realistic about the scale of the work required. We usually have to do a fair bit of soil re-modelling to ensure a good and secure fit. Pumping out of large bodies of water requires specialist pumps to be bought in and more often than not we use machines to remove a build-up of logs / sticks and many tons of sludge. Give due thought to where all this matter will go. Sludge cannot be removed from site in some circumstances. Waste is likely to be considerable.
In areas where the local water table is high, clients should consider us installing a drainage system BELOW the new liner to avoid hydroponic pressure lifting the new liner out!
We do not do clay lining as it's simply not reliable enough these days and can result in years of issues.
Filtration Installation
We can retro-fit filtration and circulation systems to most existing ponds and small lakes. The Rolls-Royce filtration set-up is a constructed wetland filter, immensely more reliable and effective than any factory made filter. For those on a more modest budget we can offer a range of filtration options.
The most important aspect of any pond is filtration, all too often over-looked at build stage. We have unrivalled expertise in biological and mechanical filtration.
